Over 11 years ago, the Blockbuster chain numbering 9,000 stores worldwide, filed for bankruptcy in 2010.  Online downloading and streaming  replaced the need for hiring videos and even for the need of a VCR machine. Technology more than the economy became the downfall. Yet another victim of the 'American Dream', which made it a perfect candidate for inclusion in this series. I found a sign still in the original location locally, which I was fortunate to photograph as a month later, the site was acquired and the sign has disappeared. I have been seeing these signs for sale on ebay for £2,500.
